Dr Ruth Brookman

Dr Brookman is a Research Fellow at the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development at Western Sydney University. Her early professional career as a Speech Pathologist in rehabilitation settings motivates her research focus on enhancing wellbeing in residential aged care settings. She investigates the value of social interactions between people with dementia and their caregivers, to reduce social isolation and support wellbeing. In addition to her academic work, Ruth is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice specialising in older adults and care partners of people with dementia.
